    Springfield 1911 night sights

I have a Springfield 1911-A1 I want to install night sights on, anybody done this? What sights did you find/use? I've been looking around and can't find many options, I really like the trijicons with orange outline but I don't think they make them for a 1911.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Anybody know if Colt and Springfield sights interchange?

Are front and rear sight in dovetails? The thing I used to do was check Brownells, they usually listed dovetail dimensions for the sights.

The rear is dovetailed, the front I'm thinking is staked but I'm not sure.

If you have the GI type sights, that will make things more difficult. I'll have to do some looking around.

I've been looking, but I've not found anywhere that tells me what size the dovetail is yet!

They are Mil Spec sights, you should be able to use any that are listed for the Mil spec replacement sights but I'm just not quite sure how to do the front one yet.

Brownwells has this front sight staking tool

1911 AUTO SIGHT STAKING TOOL - Brownells

But I'm sure you could figure out a way to do it with out buying that expensive thing.

From what I'm gathering, you need a medium tenon front sight.
